College recruitment

Our professional and managerial hiring involves the placement of recent college graduates into entry-level positions. We’re looking for students who are eager to learn about the different aspects of our business and who want to work with a company that is driven by change. Selected individuals will be encouraged to identify and implement opportunities for improving business processes, organizational design and corporate culture.

Because of the size and complex technology of our Longview mill, we typically have opportunities for college graduates every year. We recruit primarily on Pacific Northwest campuses during fall and winter terms.

Your campus career services center will have information about Longview interview dates and the types of degrees we’re seeking.

Internships

We offer professional-/graduate-level and summer internships for college students.

Professional/graduate internships

These six-month internship programs help recent graduates build professional experience as they work on strategic projects that impact our business. Each intern’s performance is assessed over the course of the internship for future full-time employment opportunities. We accept applications for these internships year-round.

Summer internships

Our summer internships place college juniors (in good academic standing) in 12-week roles designed to provide immersion in Longview business operations, promote leadership opportunities for strategic projects and assess future potential with the company. Summer internships begin in May/June each year. Many of our students are invited to intern with us two years in a row.

We seek interns in the following fields of study:

• Paper science engineering
• Chemical engineering
• Mechanical engineering
• Electrical engineering
• Marketing
• Procurement
• Finance
• IT
• Wood science

Qualifications:

• A commitment to working safely
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Proven ability to work in project teams
• Campus and community involvement
• Ability/willingness to live within driving distance of Longview, Wash., during the internship
• The ability to communicate with a wide variety of personnel
• Interest in the manufacturing industry
• Willingness to seek out opportunities and ask questions
